Does anyone know where I can get some extra helos in this scale to top out my LHD-1?

White Ensign Models - you'll have to scroll down the page here for CH-46s, you'll probably spot other things on the way

Thank you very much David! It's going to cost a small fortune to completely fill up the flight deck!!

Hi Austin & David

I have to agree with both of you:
- WEM airstryke models are great!
- It could become a "little" expensive!

But it will make a real difference with the runway busy!
I would say go - and keep in mind that these little chopters need also a lot of care...
[I am starting to repeat myself a lot - I am getting old!! :-) ]
I have seen masterly built flattops (CV, CVE, ACV, LHD, etc) with overlooked airwing (fixed and/or rotary) which makes the model poorer!
Take your time and make it good - there's no rush!

Any pics btw??

That's fine Austin
If you need motivation to build it, you could join Garry Beebe's Flattops Campaign.

The subject fits in the goal and you'll see that the crew is friendly and ready to help - and the fact that are more members building the same model, helps a little!

Give it a thought!

Aircraft (Actual mix depends upon mission)

6 AV-8B Harrier attack planes
4 AH-1W SuperCobra attack helicopter
12 CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters
9 CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters
4 UH-1N Huey helicopters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OR
6 AV-8B Harrier attack planes
12 CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters
9 CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters
those 53's take up a lot of deck space- dont forget to fold the rotors and tails !

Really, DML Tarawas and one other, have the same helos, but also a couple cobras. And Peilou (?) and another have harriers. Keep your eye on squadron and ebay, and Tarawas hit 9.99 all the time. Cheap enough to buy a couple for helos. I think the Tarawas have 2 AAVPs and LCTs also

Yeah teh mix is always different depending on the mission. I went to Afghanistan on board an LHD and the flight deck was literraly filled to the brim. When I checked out that website, it would cost about a 100 USD to buy all that I would need.

Hey Gary,

I was looking at your workbench photos for the M113 ACAV and saw your things for Ebay. I bought three of them last week and can't wait to get them! Especially the Bradley racks...looks alot better than Verlindens!

Hope you like them, be in your hand soon. If you use etch rotor blades btw. Those helos would be a fairly simple mold if you ever wanted to try casting.
