Hi Graham
Don't stress about it! I can wait
Never rush a modeler - remember?
Take your time and build it and photograph it and then well talk again - just keep with the same level of work as the previous one and you will do great!
Are you going to keep some of the original Revell's Crew?

I think that I'll use just a few of the Revell figures, yes. Have to see how good (or bad!) they look alongside the H & G ones when I've finished painting them

Well I've finished painting the figures, used Vallejo acrylics and then finished them off with a tip from Calvin Tan - a wash of sepia ink. I used quite a heavy wash of diluted ink and then blotted away any excess with the point of a dry paintbrush. Think they have come out quite nicely, only problem is that, despite being washed and primed, paint still doesn't adhere very well to the metal figures.

Those certainly look great to me. I saw the news item earier in the week that Jimbrae put out and immediately thought of your Flower class.
I wonder why the paint didn't stick. I'm certainly not suggesting you don't know what you're doing but did you clean them fully before priming?

Yes, they had a good wash in warm soapy water. Vallejo acrylic would just rub off the figures if you even touched them. I then primed them again with acrylic car paint, which is better, but sharp edges (e.g. helmet rims) are still losing their paint. Grrr!
