Met my new neighbor yesterday, great older guy,ex-vet and all and got to talking models, showed him my collection of tanks and stuff and he asked me if ?I wanted a Heller kit of a 1/60 Viking ship,he said he just didnt have the patience anymore so i took it,nice kit
but the vacuform sail is torn and mushed up,he's had in storage for a few years, so hoping some of the ship modelers here would know of a source where I might be able to get a sail for it,either plastic or cloth or whatever. TIA

depends if you want the sails furled or rolled, but...

any thin cotton fabric will work...typically, white, and soaked in tea to give it an aged look.

If you need the cloth to be semi-rigid, once it's dyed with tea, hit it with dull cote...

That should do the trick...from there you can also paint any of the usual designs often seen on the sails, but I'd use acrylic paint...

Thanks for those tips Jeff,I'll give it a try, I do want the sails unfurled.
What do ya think of the idea of putting it in some white glue and water solution to make it even stiffer?

Depends on how stiff you want it...the dullcote has always worked for me.

I suggest giving it a try on a piece of scraps, and see which method works best.
