or use brass stanchions like this -

on a nice Mahogany base?

I like the idea of it being displayed on brass and mahogany. The one I'm doing for DDD2 (my dad's boat) will be displayed in a glass-fronted "shadow box" on brass below his ribbons, pics, and medals.

Hi John!

Personally, I think that a really nice wood base with using keel blocks to hold your model is a GREAT looking finished display, just looks a little more "classy" to me...
