Edit: Thanks to Skipper some decent pictures can now be seen on ''Landing Craft Trio'

Cheers

Al

Greetings all,

I promised to post some pictures of the progress on my LCs. Unfortunately every time I try to move the pictures from my gallery to the post they come up as a red x.

Anyway order of build was first the LCA, then the LCVP and finally the LCM3.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures I'm just learning how to use a digital camera and when I get better at distance and clarity I'll post some new ones. All were painted in a RN sharp style camo and the figures are Tamiya conversions. Loads for the boats will be RM troops and an M7 Priest.

These are the first boats I've tried to build since I was a child so constructive comments are welcome.

Here the link to my gallery at least I seem to have this bit sorted out.

Perhaps they are better hidden away anyway. welcome to Als place.

Cheers

Al

Hi Al,
looking good! The LCVP is Italeri (or Lindberg?) right? The LCM is Italeri too? (or Trumpeter?) the LCA is what brand?
Are you planning on putting them together in 1 diorama? That would be really cool I think (not to mention huge!)

great job!

Hi Mark,

Both the LCM and the LCVP are the Italeri kits. The LCA is the FM kit which is a dog to build. I been taking a photographic lesson all afternoon and will upload a couple of better shots, the flash had eliminated a lot of the weathering and given them a kind of whitish look.

I'm planning a dio for them all based on the landing of 48 RM Cmdo at Nan Red in support of the Canadians. It's part of the 5 year plan!!!

Thanks for your kind comments, there has been a lot of work put into them to get them this far and I hope the second lot of pictures do them a bit more justice.

Cheers

Al

All look like nice builds to me. Especially like the weathering and rope fenders. Only constructive criticisms / suggestions I would make are:

1. Perhaps paint the stands matt black or a similar colour so they are not so visible

2. Try to tone down the white sweaters a bit - they look like they're just back from the Chinese laundry!

Nice work though and interesting subjects.

Greetings all,

Thanks for posting th pictures Gunny, don't know where I'm going wrong there! I've added a few more which I hope give better detail - found a gizmo button on the camera for taking detailed photo's so the second batch are a bit better although the dayligh had gone by then.

Graham thanks for the comments. The fenders for the LCA were made from matchsticks and string. I know what you mean about the jumpers, they will end up a more brownish colour like the crew in the LCM, I just haven't got around to it yet, same detail re the stands.

As I hadn't posted any work since I joined the site I thought I better take the plung.

I've still some work to do on the gun shields and some other small details but when is a model ever finished (ha ha).

Thought it would be nice to fly the White Ensign on these boats and it was a great change from the OD. The figure conversions are not great but that was a bit of an experiment and if and when I get them into a dio some will have to be changed to a more active type role.

Again thanks for all your comments and enjoy the new pics in the gallery.

Cheers

Hi Alan

They show that you have gone far to build them
My advice on taking the photos is for you to step back a little (so that the lens can do a proper focus) and change the image format for LOW, this way you don't have very big images (the reason for you to have a Red X)

Hi Skipper,

LOL, LOL my photographic skills leave a lot to be desired and need more practice just like my modelling skills.

Still I did promise to post some pictures and I appreciate you comments. I should really have taken them outside, the light in my build area is very poor. when I learn to steady the camera a bit more things might get better. I also discovered a gizmo thing for taking detailed pictutres - after the event of course LOL, LOL.

Now if I had a 'Salvage Boat' to add to these that would be just great (ha, ha).

Cheers

Al

As you get more comfortable with your photography you may want to consider investing in a tripod. Obviously this eliminates any snags with shaky hands, and they can be had pretty cheaply from most camera shops - probably even cheaper on eBay

Hi Graham,

Checked a cheapo out at Argos on line this evening. If it's half decent weather at the weekend I'll try some shots in proper daylight which might also help. Just another learning experience, like building the LCA.

Skippers given me some tips so I'll just see how it goes, photography was never high on my list of things to learn but I better move with the times. I haven't embraced the CD age, mobile phones, DVDs or Text Messages either - I still roll my own cigaretts even though it's not PC, and people are always look to see what I'm putting in them LOL, LOL

Cheers, sound advice on the tripod.

Al
