Hey Guys,
I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I checked and didn't see anything. I wanted to see if anyone has built the Yankee Modelworks / Blue Water Navy USS Gambier Bay. I've never seen the kit in person, but wondered what peoples impressions are. It's pretty expensive, but seems to be the only game in town as far as 1/350 Casablanca Class carriers go. Before I drop a wad of cash, I wanted to see if it would even be worth picking up.
One of the big reasons I ask is because a friend of mine has one of the Yankee Fletchers and it is, well, a piece of junk. It's not that I'm not for hard work on models, god knows, but I didn't want to drop $250 bones on something that I would have to do as much work on if I just scratch built it.
Thanks Guys.
~ Garth

I just purchased the USS Gambier Bay from Yankee Modelworks. It is a beautiful kit and worth the money. Lots of detail. I wouldn't recommend it for the first time resin kit, unless you are willing to out in a lot of hours. I do have questions about the assembly and am having a hard time getting in touch with the manufacturer (now located in North Carolina). Did you end up buying the kit?
