Crew:
Yesterday I received the new Fine Scale Modeler (July 2006), with an interesting advertisement. It included the first artwork for the Trumpeter 1/144th scale Gato boat. It shows the boat in the early 1941 configuration. The price is stated as $ 42.95 US and should be released in August.
Now for those of us that are display room challenged, a 1/144th Gato is much more acceptable. (approximately 26") We can only hope Trumpeter really did their homework on this one. The basic hull will provide for a number of conversions, through the Guppy's etc. Lots of plastic ahead, guys.
So who's up for the 1/144th Fleetboat ?

Hi Bruce
I would like to see it first, although my guess is that I will buy it anyway
I'm in for Revell 1/72 and for this one too (along with a bunch of old revell ones in the stash!)

I definitely agree with the wait and see attitude. Unfortunately it seems Trumpeter runs hot and cold with their releases. The more I've read about the Sullivans, the worse it gets.
It would also be great to see Mirage pop the whole family in 1/400th ! But they may not be interested in US boats at the time. It has been extremely quiet from them on the Sub front, my guess would be too busy with the 1/48th wings releases. We'll see.

I'm in. I can now do the USS Copperfin from the movie "Destination Tokyo" with Cary Grant.

After their terrible Seawolf I'll wait for the reviews too.
Meanwhile the YMW Guppys will keep me busy for a while.
