Hi
I have the chance to get the Squardron/Signal "U-boats in Action" book on our local version of E Bay.
As you may or my not be aware I love my U Boats but I am trying to learn as much as possible about them and I have very limited reference books (i.e. none) My question in simple terms is this book a good basic starting point?
I would value your opinions.
Regards
Sean

Hey Sean...
I have many Squadron/Signal reference volumes, mate, and personally, I do like them...they are a good basic point of reference, similar to the Osprey New Vanguard series line of publications. If the price is right, Sean, snap it up!

Hi Sean,
I agree with Mark...go for it ...it's a great starting point.
The next one you may want to consider is the softcover
CLASSIC WARSHIP NO:27...Type VII u-boat.
Easy reading...lots of photos and good line drawing of
the variants and also not too pricey.
Hope this helps and have a nice day,
Joe

That was my first uboat book also. Another Squadron publication is "U-boat War" by Timothy Kutta. It is not very expensive either, usually about $12 to $15 US. Both are good to have around as well as the CLASSIC WARSHIP NO:27...Type VII u-boat that Grauwolf mentioned. You can really sink some $$$ into references and these three are an easy way to start.

Hi Crew
The bidding on UBoats in Action went to NZ $50.00 plus postage of $4.50 last night and I just let it go common sense prevailed.
It started at NZ$19.00 which is kinda OK for a second hand reference but at $50.00 its way over the top I pulled out at this point. As it was I only set myself $25.00 as the maximium. New I have seen it for sale around the $24.95 price.
I think I will purchase it along with the other titles mentioned directly from overseas or forma model shop who may stock them.

Hi Sean
You did well, setting a maximum plausible price for it
Sure, you'll find it in another place and cheaper too
Nice move and good attitude!
You'll see you will find the book a good value

Hi
Well I missed out on UBoats in Action the first time around but I got it the second time for a much lower price. Received it yesterday from a local New Zealand Vendor on the local version of E Bay Trade Me. Its a long story but in essence success awaits those that are patient.
It looks great I will be reading up on it all next week whilst I am on vacation. Can't wait.
Plus I intend to get the other two books mentioned above as well.
Thanks for all the great advice.
