It's the day before Father's Day and I just wanted to wish all you dads out there a happy father's day early. Let's hear from you guys as to what you got. Ian, my son, and Renee (wife) took me to Hobby Lobby today. After Miguel's uboat, I got Revell's 1/72 VIIC and improve on my last effort. So, lets hear from you guys.

Hey Gator, right back at ya mate!
It's too early, yet, bro, BUT I did catch my son hustling a package in from UPS that was from Brigade Quartermasters, so something is up!

No kits here, but there again the stash is pretty large already! And I did get taken out to lunch; SWMBO even offered to drive so I managed to sneak in a couple of pints as well

Well I’m not a father myself and also haven’t talked with my father fo many years but I did go see my grandfather today and informed him of the model I’ll be building him (info can be found Here ) so that could be considered a fathers day gift. Well that is on top of the cards of course.

Might be a little late in the day for it but I wish all your fathers out there a good day.

Well, I hope everyone had a nice fathers day.

I'm not a father, so I had no cards or gifts to open, but I did the dishes, cleaned the cat pans, and carried on as usual. :-)

Come on guys, plastic or not, nobody got anything or did anything for father's day? Let's hear it. I was taken out to lunch and got to work on a 120mm pirate figure.

Well my stash is pretty hugh too so I didn't expect any of "those" gifts.
However, my daughter gave me a really cool pair of soccer shorts and my wife gave me an awesome red Hawaiin shirt. I scored BIG.

Dave,
I'm sure the cat(s) thinks of you as a DAD so Happy Fathers Day to you as well.

And since alot of Dads are no longer with us...
"I miss you Dad!"

Well, spent most of the day sick on the couch with a killer chest cold, but I did enjoy a bit of festivities, Gator...got a new pair of woodland camo BDU's, a nice new wallet, and a great shirt...and most importantly, all of the love that my wife and son could give, which is the best gift of all, mate, sick or not!

Funny, I was wondering about Father's and Mother's day being just an American thing, until I read Graham's reply, so I guess they do it in the UK also.
But I wonder where else it is celebrated, and where it's unheard of.

Gary, I still miss my parents, and it's been years since they died.

We do them both in the UK, not sure if they always coincide with yours in the States though...

I've just got home from night flying, where I spent a few far from happy minutes spinning at high speed on the end of a winch cable, so don't feel at my brightest...

... but I have a nagging suspicion that my previous post may have been really stupid, for some reason. Someone will no doubt enlighten me soon!

Dave,
My Dad passed away 25 years ago. He was my hero. He had a lot of faults like most of us but a great guy none the less.
He introduced me into building models. We built the old Revell Hawaiian Pilot back in the 50's when I was only around 8-10 years old.
He was an Naval Aviation Mechanic in Utility Squadron 9 in the Pacific. He would tell me stories about different planes when we built the old Aurora and Monogram kits. He loved the TBM but he always laughed and said that they leaked hydraulic fluid like crazy and whenever he flew he always stashed extra fluid incase they bled off on a long flight.
Again, Happy Fathers Day to all of our Dads...all of our Heros.
Gary
