I saw in a local shop here a German U sub of WOII Has any one experience with this model as I have only the Revell submarines and no other experience It seems that there is electrical motor for battery included??
Any comments/reply are welcome please

Hello Brandon,
The Academy type IX boat is an interesting model. It was
released as pool toy years ago.....dives and surfaces via
control rod.
The hull in this kit is a very good representation of the type IX,
the deck is very crisp and well molded....but the toyish features
have to be removed.
Here are some of the corrections I did on mine.
Replaced the fore and aft dive planes
Add double rudder, drive shafts and propellers
Rework the conning tower.
Fill some holes in the hull...these holes not need for
a static model.
These basic corrections will give a descent model of
a type IX in 1:150 scale....then you can add finer details
at will.
There some photos of the Academy type IX in my
photos......I think you can access them...have a look.
I am happy this model...took some work but it is a
better represention of a Type IX.
Have a nice day and happy modelling!
Joe

Hi Brandon and Joe

This shot shows a perfect example of what you can achieve with some work and references and will also!!
Congratulations, Joe
I have seen this model and I would say it is a dog!
It's by far the best built of the Academy u-boot I have ever seen
