Greetings all,
This may be old news but I haven't seen these memtioned before, but of course I could have missed it.
VLS has 3 U boat sets of figures: in 1/72
Set 1
Conning Tower (3 fgures)
Set two
Main Gun Crew
Set 3
Anti Aircraft Gun Crew
I saw then on netmerchants in their latest additions
 http://www.netmerchants.co.uk/section.php/540/0
Also notices a 1/35 U boat commander who with a new head might be a suitable 'all purpose' figure?
Sorry if this should have gone in buy/sell or news but these may have been around for some time and I just hadn't seen them.
Cheers
Al

Ahoy Al,
These are the Warriors figure sets, now a branch of
VLS. They are made of resin, the sculpts are excellant
and a must for anyone wanting to populate the 1:72
scale u-boats, on the market.
Thanks for the link
Have a nice day and happy modelling!
Joe

Hi, I need your opinions about figures in 1/72 scale. I see this VLS set in your link and the appearance is very good. I see also a Revell kit (set with 15 figures) with a cheap price. Vallejo have another set but is very expensive.

Hi Miguel!
In regards to the VLS figures, mate...they are quite good. I've never seen the Revell kit, but I have used many VLS figgies and the results were always good.
Between the two, Miguel, I would definitely steer toward the Verlinden, sailor...

Thanks Mark. Ok, I'm going to see the Verlinden set , also. However I just to see another set by CMK Czech Model detailed it in resin. The price is very good. I suppose that the resin option (or metal) for figures is the better for this scale, not?
I remember a few time ago a review of the WWII fighter germany crew of Verlinden. From my point of view ,your faces were too wide and fat (with a "confused face"). This my opinion for this set , but I donīt know if for the u-boat set is more detailed. I donīt know. Mark, then you think that is better the Verlinden set?
But I am opened for any opinion.
Regards Mark and thanks.

CMK sets are just about as comparable for casting quality, Miguel, as VLS, IMHO...as far as the detail and sculpting go, that's really depends on the figure's original sculptor...I don't know who CMK uses for sculptors, but I do know a few artists that sculpt for VLS, and their style is all very similar, so the results will be very much consistent...
And unfortunately, until DML starts producing Generation 2 figures in injection molded plastic for us salty dogs, yes, resin or metal IS the best choice for detail and quality, my friend...

Thanks Mark. Your words are a great helping for me. It is a good news to have them with several trademark shopping options in order to choice it. I just to see others. Metal figure set by "Hecker und Goros".
It is another possibility. Ok, Mark, and now the only problem is to decide it. In accordance with your comments I deduce that they all can have a similar quality, so I will have to decide.
Thanks Mark, from Greywelves headquarter.

I hope to see you again.

Hi Miguel. I used some 1/72 Royal Navy Hecker & Goros figures and found them very nice (although they need good priming to hold acrylic paint well). They are reviewed on the site here

Miguel,
I used all three Warrior uboat crew sets from VLS on my last uboat. They are very nice indeed. I chose them because they did not have all the wet weather gear on and I wanted to do a boat that was in the Gulf of Mexico. Revell Germany figures are soft plastic. I'm going to give those a go for my next uboat. I bought them because of the sailors at parade rest (?).
Hope this helps.

Holla Miguel,
The Warriors(VLS) are excellant in my opinion. The scuplts
are to my liking and represent general u-boat crews manning
the 3 major functions of the deck duties.
Tower, flak and 8.8
The Revell are made of soft plastic and are harder to paint:
carefully wash them down ...a good coat of primer and paint
with enamels or acrylics....do not handle them to much as
the paint will tend to flake off. The sculpts and faces are very good
but the poses a little static....great for populating a
u-boat in harbor with the crew and officers in their parade
uniforms. The captain is good and the flak gunner in the
sitting postion will come in handy if your modelling C/41.
CMK are very well sculpted...my favorite is the torpedo loaders
and the crew at rest....there others wear fowl weather gear.
The Andreas and Hecker & Goros are on order so I have
not yet seen them but from the photos look excellant.
Overall, all the crews presently available are of recent
design so I cannot say that any are bad. I guess you will
have to choose depending on what you will represent
your u-boat as: in action...in port...or prowling the North
Altantic in fowl weather.
Hope this helps,
Joe

Greatings all,
Thanks for your comments (Graham, Kenny and Joe). Graham I had not seen your review about the Hecker and Goros figures. It is a good review. Thanks. I have not any experience painting figures, but I hope to learn it.
I am thinking to include these figures on the futur proyect "U-boat type XXIII, from Special Navy". With 3 figures will be good, I think. The situation, in port, because this u-boat will not be included in any diorama
About the resin figures by Warriors, I donīt know if the emblems on the cap, shirts,..... , are good defined or we have to paint them with the "closed eyes". Thanks to everybody for your support.
