A site visitor asked me this question:

"I cant find any scale model of any AFS US Navy ship. Its a combat stores ship Mars Class. Any ideas or sources?"

Any feedback would be appriciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Not sure if your going to find one. I've never seen one myself. The old AFS (Attack Food Ship...lol) went out of service 10-12 years ago.

Bryan,
Thanks. Mike Taylor also PM'd me about something else and let me know he didn't think there were any Mars class either.

Hey are you down in PR yet?

I sent you a bunch of mail today.

There are currently 2 Mars class AFS remaining in service, The USNS Spica and USNS Saturn, both are operated by Military sealift command (MSC). Now kits i'd check with JAG and Viking models both are know for their odd subjects for kits. For any info on the ships themseles search this site www.navy.mil as they have registry of all commands operating in the world. good hunting to all stug

I myself found every ship i have unreped with in my 10 years of service, it's a good site and has some nice links. good hunting stug

You might want to check in the 1/1200 scale range. I know that is very small, but they usually have a greater selection in the smaller scales. But as far as the more popular 1/350, 1/600 and /1700, there are no models available.
