Hi Anthony

I have never seen the YMW typ IX U-boot, so I can't give you a honest review of it, or advice!
Resin models can reach the full spectrum of Models:
- From "dogs" to excellent!
So my advice is for you to:
- Wait for some reply on your question;
- Buy a resin model after you had it in your hand and seen it. This way you can be aware of the challenge your up to...

I know I didn't answer your question, but I hope this helps you (at least a little)

I really don't want to sound like a YMW salesman but... This kit & their Ty Vllc and their new Guppies are all excellent kits. The moldings are crisp and the PE is excellent. They now include color multi page instructions and the "Pour Keel" is much easier to clean up than their earlier kits.
I strongly recommend either of these kits. The only complaint I have about the UBoots is the lack of decals. YKM had improved greatly over the past few years.. A little Expensive but well worth it if you want to model a accurate and good looking 1/350 submarine . I hope they keep the trend going.. BTW their Guppies are beautiful and long overdue..

... as any Guppy is!

Thanks for sharing Walt!
I am sure Anthony will apreciate your input (as I have)
It's good to know that YMW have improved - perhaps because they are now owned by a different person
