Greetings all,

Well after a 3 day slow down I got staretd last night to add a few more details.

Have added some scramble nets, the correct way this time, internal rope ladders, tyres, and fittings for the wheelhouse, plus some re-working of the original paint job I did.

Still the ramp to complete, more crew, stowage for the top deck and rear part of the well. Additional ropes, fire buckets etc.

Still a fair amount to do.

I need to replace the LCM marking with something bigger but.........

Cheers

Al

Hey Alan!

Don't worry bout the slow down, mate, life always seems to get in the way of my modeling time, too!
Your update looks impressive as usual, my friend, thanks for the photos!
Pier 51 is really going to be a beauty!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

As most of the well will be empty with the vehicle on the slipway/ramp reversing in I though I better make the interior a bit more interesting. There will be a couple of ammo pallets at the rear and maybe a fire bucket in one corner, with some securing rope lying around.

Still some more work to do on the tyres, but my main concern was that I might have 'over' weathered the sides on this one. I'll need to get some larger LCM letters for the hull sides.

Kenny, there's a lot of scope with these boats, lots of possibilities LOL, LOL. There are some in smaller scale 1/48 I think??

Cheers

Extremely impressive work, love the detail. That tyre hanging there "sells" it as real. The scale is nice, too, was is it, about 1:4 ?!

Can't wait to see more pix.

Hi Wink,

Glad you like her, this is one of three, the other two being a USN LCM 3 and USN LCP (R), here' s link to the other two if you haven't seen them yet.

http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/forums/85634&page=1

They are 1/35, the Trumpeter kits.

Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers

Al, fantabulous! The other pix are even better. The crew +equipment really makes them come alive, but every detail is just right.

I hope these are displayed to many!

Hi Wink,

Glad you enjoyed them. I hope to get the second LCM finished this weekend, just awaiting some fresh paint supplies.

Going to use a couple of the U Models crew, they have a great new figure who looks the part.

Load for this one will be a Bedford Truck reversing up the ramp.

Cheers

Hey Mac, I looked something up last night regarding the LCR ( otherwise known as a raft) .You were speaking about what to do with it. Easy, strap it onto the fantail of your LCP(R) . By this point, particularly in Europe, they were generally used as Command & Control and/or Rescue boats.

So, basically, for the Pier 51 operation, the boat and crew would be the EMS/cops for the harbor( harbour to y'all)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that. Something to float at the side LOl, LOL. Not being a sea person what exactly does EMS/cops mean???

Mac,

They'd do rescues, first aid, and traffic control. That's what I meant by EMS/cops. You could even add some extra radio sets and life preservers to the boat. Add some pennants as well and you have your C&C boat.

By the way, it appears that the armour plate bolts would not be all that obvious inboard, so don't get shook on that one.

Mac, that whole operation is nothing shy of fabulous. Glad to see it taking shape. :-)

Hi Dave,

Thansk for that, I'll add a first aid box and maybe some radios. I was kinda using it as a water taxi, taking some engineers out to the mother ship.

Re the bolts I haven't done anything about them yet but might add the three plates I spoke off just for a little more colour inside. Have to be in the right mood first LOL, LOL.

I have some extra life preservers and life jackets on route to set around the boat and some additional stowage

Thanks for all the info - great, and glad you like them.

Cheers

Hey Alan. I've been eyeing the 1/72 Trumpter LCM. It's full hull and has decent details.
