Just waiting for things to dry so I thought I'd post my latest attemt at a flishing net. This ones is for 'hanging around' - somewhere :-) :-) :-)



I'll stain it down a bit, still looks a bit green, would the size be about right for 1/35, it's about 3 figures by 5 figures :-) :-) :-) :-) - very precise!!!!

I like it Al, it looks real good! how about taking some pictures on a one-coloured background paper though, as here, the details of the net are a bit loose in the background-cloth! It doesn't look green like that, actually I think you have the right colour if that is no trick from your camera

Net - Looks OK in the pictuure but a bit green in normal light.

The little rubber boat they are sitting on comes with the LCP (R) but I haven't done anything with it or thought too much about using it.

Hi Tomaz,

The net was made from a piece of Verlinden camo netting, some string and beads from the local market. I still need to paint the floates and stain it a bit browner. The material is very fine and tends to want to come apart easily so I coated the whole thing with PVA (White) glue and that allowed me to make a boarder around it. The string was fed through on a needle and the beads added as I went.

Here's one I made using tissue paper covered with camo netting etc.

Looks nice all bundled up like that. If you were going to display it deployed don't forget the lead line at the bottom. I lived 25 years in Sitka, Alaska and I know what nets look like. Sitka is on the southeast portion off Alaska and is a major salmon and halibut fishing port.

i was wondering wether i dreamt this or not, but i thought the good way of tinting this kind of net would be to put it in TEA! take a Chinese brown one! as you are British i suppose you musn't be too short in supply

The lead line,Hmm mightv'e opened my er... pen.er computer to soon. Tough to describe. Actually its a line of about 3/8" or 1/2" diam. with lead weights in the shape of long beads, actual size about 4" long by about 2", diameter, strung on the bottom line and spaced every,couple feet. They'd be dull gray in color. Their pupose is to hold the net vertically in the water. There are severaL other types of nets but for the type you are modeling that one would be correct. Nice cargo or boarding nets too BTW.

Another good source of netting is bandage gauze and it's cheap! I showed my wife some of the camo netting for models, she looked at me a said that's nothing but sterile gauze! Don't buy that! Paint it, ball it up til it's soft and presto, netting.

It would make a great 1/350 scale scramble net for an attack transport.

uh Kenny, thanks for that one! i am currently trying to list all things that are available in normal shops and that are getting sold at Gold price from model/aftermarket companies, and i didn't have that one :-)

Yip, had that one already but haven't tried it out yet. As long as you can get a piece of aguze wide enough for what you want it would work fine as there is no difference between gauze and the Verlinded camo net that I can see.

If you find a good old fashion fabric shop, you'll find good old fashion CHEESE CLOTH by the yard. More importantly, you find it availalible in different size weaves, from the more normal wide weave found in gauze, to an extremely fine weave used for straining...... well, cheese curds. :-)
