Ahoy All,
Might have been noticed by others.....?
Upon inspecting the RoG Type VII-D minelayer 1:144 kit I recently acquired,
I discovered an interesting point.
The instruction sheet shows a Type VII-C deck attached to the spure and
lists it as a part not to be used. This part was molded into the sprue but
was obviously cut off at the plant prior to packaging...it is not included with
the kit. My example clearly shows cut off marks.
So in short, we can surely expect the release of a 1:144 scale Type VII-C in
the near future since the deck already exsists.
I guess RoG just has to produce the shorter VII-C hull...most of the tower
features remain virtually the same.
So fellow submariners, look forward to a well detailed companion to the
VII-D in the near future...one more for the u-boat modellers!
Later...
Joe

You've got a keen eye!
A VIIC in 1/144 will be nice.
No room for the 72nd in my display case
and I can't afford a room addition to the house! :-) :-) :-)

Very interesting point, Joe!
Keep your ears open (and I will too!) and we'll see if it's true!!
Would make for a very nice addition, now, wouldn't it?

Hi all,
Joe,
following you report I went back and had a look at the parts in my kit and I appear to have the spare decking still attached to the sprue, I did buy my kit when they first came out over here so might be that they left it in by mistake.
Looks like we can expect a another VII in the future, well I have my fingers crossed.

Ahoy Pete,
You lucky man !
I picked up two kits and none of mine have the spare deck

Not a problem...if I need to, I will just cut back the hull and the deck
on the VII-D. The conning tower is virtually identical anyhow.

Shipmates,
Like many of us in this group, I also have a 1/144th Type VIID in work. In my opinion, this is an extremely outstanding model ! Just shrink down the 1/72 - for those of you with the "Big brother" version !
I have no doubt Revell will bring out several more versions utilizing the same basic hull. (The Type VII I'm referring to) It is just good marketing. I also would not be surprised to see Revell jump the 1/144th bandwagon with the Gato series after sales slow of the 1/72nd version. The scale just lends itself to a good balance of cost and size. Trumpeter has the early Gato out now, and a late version due out later. I haven't seen the Trumpeter boat yet, but I have no doubt Revell will go after them. It could be an interesting time to be a Sub modeler !
Of course, If Revell REALLY want to go to town - just imagine if they redid the Flower Class Corvette in 1/144th with today's details ????? Now there is an interesting thought.....what say ye, Crew ? Bruce

A Flower Class Corvette in 1:144....yes sir! That would be great.
Just think of the possible diorama ideas and not requiring half the
house to display it in!
