Greetings all,
I asked this question before but it got lost in the boat posts.
Would USN LCM3s, LCVPs, LCP (R)s etc have flown the Stars and Stripes on the stern?
Cheers
Al

Alan, I've checked my Squadron WWII US Landing Craft in Action book and there are a couple of photos of LCMs with a stars & stripes flying of the light mast. There is one photo of an LCVP with a flag at the invasion of New Guinea. I would believe that it is a matter of crew preference, considering the top brass wouldn't be around the boats (and hard work :-) ).
I hope this helps. I would put one on the US LCM considering it's operating within shouting distance of the Brits.

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for that. Have you got a picture of the light mast? I think one came with teh Italier kit but there are none on the Trumpeter kits.
I'll have to dig out the italeri Instructions and check, but I think it was more a pole affair and didn't have a light on it!
Cheers
