Just a little heads up, if you're waiting for the release of Trumpeter Models new 1/144 scale GATO, updated availability near the end of December, 2006. . .(maybe in time for Christmas? )

Ya know I got to thinking about this release and considering that the changes between the '42 version and '44 upgraded version of the Gato were relatively small maybe they could have done like Dragon and given us the choice in 1 kit.

Actually the changes are major from Conning tower to weapons and limber hole configuration depending on the Boat and what yard did the refits... and in some cases even the deck layout.
I am eager to see this kit.
From the looks of the box art on the new kit it seems that Trumpy did a new tool for the hull halfs too... Excellent
