Greetings all:
Anyone had a look at these (I assume) hard styrene figures yet?
As my model slump continues to drag on into alomst 2 years, I pulled out the VIIC today only to find the tip of the right hull was broken (Contacted RM for a replacement), but if this project gets rolling I'll populate it with some crew members.
I'm leaning toward Warriors crews, but I'm curious what these guys look like (since they retail for about $10 USD)

Thanks in advance!

Hey Nathan. They're not to bad. The only drawback is that they are soft plastic.

Kenny:
Thanks for the info on the soft plastic, that helps make the decision even eaiser. I stumbled across the Andrea offering since posting. Now that's a nice looking set....

Ahoy Nathan,
As Kenny said their drawback.......soft type plastic. For the price, good amount of
figures but the poses a little static. They can look very good on a u-boat in harbour with the deck populated by crew at attention.
So far the Warriors, Andreas, CMK and Hecker & Goros are the best on the
market.......more pricey but better represent crews in action.
cheers,
Joe

Hi Nathan

I have this set myself.

I am in the process of doing an inbox review at present.

Yes they are soft plastic but there are 50 or so in the box five of each pose. Some are static and some action. They can be used for U Boats and E Boats. As I have mutiple E Boat and U Boat projects planned I thought this would be a very cost effective way to get a lot of crew quickly and spread them over 5 or so projects.

Clearly they are not to the standard of many of the others on the market but then they are not the same cost.

I am planning to overcome the soft plastic issue by sealing them with pva glue prior to painting.

Regards

Sean

Ahoy Sean,

Quick question....when you say sealing with pva....what is pva glue? And how does this help the paint adhere?
Txs,
Joe

Hi Joe

I call it PVA Glue sorry its the white glue thats often used by carpenters that is white and thick and dries clear. Its often referred to as Elmers?
You can use it for attaching clear parts to models as well.

I understand its a great trick to seal the soft plastic figures so you have a firm and even surface to paint on. I have not tried this but it kinda of made sense to me.

Regards

Sean
