Hi all,

I usually build modern and WW2 armor, but gave this little kit a chance at a recent show in Denmark. I liked building this vessel so much I bought the Revell S-100 afterwards. your comments are welcome for a "closet" ship-builder.

Best regards from Denmark

Ahoy Morten! Welcome to Model Shipwrights!
That is a beautiful job on an old kit. Very nice indeed. I'm looking forward to see what you do with the S-100.

Ahoy Morten,

Very nice u-boat build you got there. Glad to hear that it was a fun build.

Considering the age of this kit, glad to see that it is still around and people
are still enjoy building it.

It is definitly not as well detailed as the recent submarine offerings by Revell
and Trumpeter but it is a nice kit nevertheless and with a little extra detailing,
turns into a very nice representation of a u-boat.

I've always liked this kit , it is the GRAND DADDY of WWII submarines, for
my years, this is all that was available to us along with the Revell LIONFISH.

Compliments on this and your fine armor builds.

Have a nice day and happy modelling!

Hi Gator and Grauwolf,

Thank you very much for your positive comments - one never know what is going to happen when entering new territory. I like the weathering possibilities with a ship and of course the size of it. To me it seems like one can get very detailed ships in even very small scales - especially trumpeter has got some nice offerings in 1/700 and 1/350. What is the quality of those kits??

Best regards
Morten

Well ahoy there, Morten, and Welcome to Model Shipwrights!

Geez, for a first timer mate, your work is Fantastic!
I agree with my mates, that is a fine old kit, but alas, for accuracy, not as fine!
But you have done it justice, mate, your weathering is wonderful. . .
The Revell S-100 is one of my all time favorite kits, and there are some really good A/M upgrades to make it into a museum piece.
To answer your question of the quality of Trumpeter kits, IMHO, the quality and selection of Trumpeter kits is excellent, but there are many other easily available ship kits as well that match and surpass this quality!
I hope that as a "closet ship builder" you will spend some time with us over here at MSW, and please, keep us updated on your builds!
Cheers,
~Gunny

You need to come out of the closet (wink wink). This sub is really nicely done.
Very nice crossover subject for an armor guy.

Hi Morten,

That looks really good. I don't know much about subs but that one looks pretty good to me.

Nice one.

Cheers

Hi guys,

All of you, thank you very much for the kind comments - I think I'd better start dry-docking that S-100 and find the Aber and WEM photoetch for that baby.

Best regards from Denmark
