Ahoy mates!

So, what did you get accomplished at the work bench this weekend? Thanksgiving weekend here in the states, plenty of time during a 4 day weekend.

Sound off you salty dawgs!

I read the Osprey New Vanguard on British Battlecruisers 1914-18 which offers a new light on these much maligned ships. Then Geoffrey Bennett's 'Coronel and the Falklands'.

As for your actual plastic, I took a look at my old Matchbox Kelly with a view to rebuilding with bits (mainly ship's boats) from a Tamiya O class.

I finished painting and applying the photoetch to a 1/700 Tamiya Prinz Eugen. This morning, I applied the gloss coat to the ship. Tonight I will flat coat. You may think it odd to gloss coat the ship, but a meduim thick coat of Tamiya Clear Gloss hides a multitude of minor sins committed during the paining process and application of photoetch. Rich

Hi Kenny

Busy old weekend with family and Christmas functions but continued to work away on the IJN Isuzu. Lots and lots of clean up of very small parts.

Regards

I usually do the same thing (add gloss coat), but that's usually in preparation for a wash for weathering...

Ahoy mates!
I guess I should give my sitrep. Did some more work on the LCC. I got the radio section done along with the armored cabin. Next on the list is .30 cal machine gun mounts.

Here's some pics. https://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/forums/87754&page=2

I second that. It's called "Monday Moring SitRep", not "Ship SitRep". I think we all enjoy a change of pace, or like Gunny and myself, build it all! Hey, if you truck is for a dio with a ship, I'm game. Gunny, what about your BTR-80? It's an amphip, right? Let's see some pics!

Gator, Gator, Gator. . .
You're right (almost!). . .it does have some excellent amphib qualities, but in essence it is classed as an Armored Personnel Carrier.
Love this photo. . .

Land-Lubbers version. . .

I'll try to get a few preview shots up ASAP, as all that I have now are some in-progress shots that are slated for a submission as soon as I can actually get the thing weathered completely (always in a time crunch! ) . . .final stages of the last wash.

Keep Modeling!

Ahoy JB! No worries on the icebergs, unless we're doing a Titanic camapign! :-)
Those look pretty cool. What are they made of?

Gunny, if it rains too much too quickly here, my truck has some amphib qualities! :-) Come on. Pony up some picks of the top secret build, oh great one.

Still just putting the finishing touches to that Chally 11 (although I doubt it would float very well) and then its ready for some weathering. I got sidetracked by a spot of R&R for a week at our local Hospice

Hi Mark, these are done of cast polyester resin, plenty of coats, plenty of colours.. it took me 2 months to come out with the require number
but then they shine under the sun! it looks better than painted and varnished plaster

yeah, amphib qualities... here is one (3 actually) that are filled with rocks to make the base for a bridge in Afghanistan
