Crewmates,

As you may notice, I've had to edit my posts. In my zeal to post interesting naval stories, I violated copyright laws of various websites. It was not my intention to do so, only to share the vast amount of what I believed to be untapped information. I was wrong for what I did and violated the trust of our staff.
If it is neccessary, I will resign my position as moderator of the Chartroom.

Once again, I am truely sorry for this lack of good judgement.

It was done with the best of intentions. Generally if you gather info from another source and use parts of it, a credit to the originator of the information is sufficent to keep most publishers happy..

Don't be so hard on yourself Kenny. You had the best of intentions and we sure were encouraging you to keep up with the cool stories and history lessons. Consider it a lesson learned for all of us.

Kenny please don't resign. Your sin was one of omission, not commission. You posted some really excellent material. By posting sources you may have encouraged people to find sites they might never have found on their own. Personally I have found more interesting sites by reading posts from this site, and others, than I've ever found on my own. All you need do is give proper credit to the author, and or site, and everybody is happy. Please reconsider your decision to resign.

Thank you guys very much for the support. After talking with our fine leader, I now know that it was a harmless mistake. Being a sign painter and commercial artist, I do take copyright violations very seriously. I didn't want a mistake on my part to have a negative impact on Model Shipwrights. Like I tell my employees, we all make mistakes. What we do to recover from them is up to us.

So I'm here until I'm voted out or assassinated, your choice.

Kenny

Hi Kenny,

I think the stories added a lot to the site, no need to take any drastic steps.

It's a sad reflection on the world we live in when people kinda copywright history. More work for the blood sucking lawyers that infest the world I suppose.

If you were doing it for commercial gain that would be a different matter but for information purposes they were interesting articles, perhaps you should have just added the source which at the end of the day would ahve given the sites free air time so to speak.

I was a good well meaning though and most enjoyable, so thanks for all your efforts.

I wonder what those who died fighting for freedom, liberty and justice would make of these sort of people?

Cheers
