The "Torpedo Flotilla" of destroyers consisted of the following ships:

USS Hopkins commanded by Lieutenant Alfred G. Howe

USS Stewart commanded by Lieutenant Julius F. Hellweg

USS Truxton commanded by Lieutenant Charles S. Kerrick

USS Lawrence commanded by Lieutenant Ernest Friedrick

USS Whipple commanded by Lieutenant Hutch I. Cone

USS Arethusa (a tender) commanded by Commander Albert W.Grant.

Phew already. LOL

Now this list just gives you an idea of the size of the Fleet we have been dealing with. I shudder at the sheer logistics involved in this sized operation.

Now I sure hope I got them all if I have made an oversight or omission please let me know. It’s the old trap as soon as you define a matter an omission is quickly discovered. The composition of the fleet altered as the cruise continued and I will update it accordingly as we progress.

On a very much lighter note I just love some of the ships names and their respective Captains/ Lieutenants/ Commanders they are so era/period appropriate..

The next instalment tomorrow will cover the departure of the fleet 99 years ago to the day.

Regards

Sean
