Well I got one! Looking in the box and reading the directions this baby is impressive! I am a little suprised they did not give any options - tubes are closed they chose to use a mid- late war config- the shears have no plating and the tower is cut down. you get a 4 inch deck gun (instead of the 5inch a 20 and 40 AA guns. I'm a little concerned about the hull alignment with it being in 6 pieces r/l fwd main and stern- bu it may be OK
I really DONT like the fact that the moldrd a broom to the antenna array- That is an honor to the boat anf was not displayed without earning it - and it is in the wrong place -and it looks like crap.- They were more often than not simply lashed to a periscope right before entering port-

BTW this one is the Wahoo from the library of Congress-Naval historical archive-

Hi John

I am waiting for the "Squadron Santa" to arrive - too long
I undertsand your concerns, but from what I have seen live in Telford, there should be no problem with the Hull parts
As for the broom...
USS Pampanito has one - as you can see it here:

Different placement, same reason
Cheers,

Skipper

John, one of my self gratifaction self spoil myself "early" Christmas gifts was the Gato. Just waiting for the aftermarket stuff to start showing up, before deciding what to get and what to past. Although I do have a load of old H&R castings from a failed attempt at the old Combat Models Vac-u-form kit years ago in the land of real teeth and hair. :-)

Last Century, definetly Dave
Yes the Combat Models were the only available source for 1/72 scale giants (at that time), and some of the are still the only ones available like the Typ IX, WWI U-boat
