Can I just re-mark a Midway (CVA41) into a Coral Sea (CVA43)? I see a bit of difference with the flight decks of the two carriers. Maybe someone can advise me if I need to do some re-working on the kit rather than just putting different decals.

I think it really comes down to the question of "which" version of each ship are you talking about.

If your starter kit and desired build are both of the initial "as built" Midway and Coral Sea, I suspect that one could easily be made into the other. But over their service lives both ships were extensively modified and by the time each one was finally de-commissioned, there were quite a number of differences. Trying to go from one later version to the other might involve some work.

Which Midway kit do you have and do you know the approximate era the kit build represents? And which era Coral Sea do you want to depict?

I wanted to build the Coral Sea in her Vietnam era configuration. I haven't gotten the Midway kit (Revell?) yet but I was wondering if it was close enough.

There's also a 1/800 Arii kit of the Midway available but it looks kinda toylike.
