I've been fooling around a little bit with my DVD of Victory at Sea, and also my new photo editing software Corel Paint Shop Pro. I thought I'd share a couple of things with you. Which navy would YOU like to serve in?

In case you're interested here is how I did this. I don't have any fancy DVD software, so I just used Windows Media Center. I paused the DVD, used the print screen function to copy the screen to Word. I then saved it as a web page. I then used Paint Shop to crop the image, and add the graphics.

For those of you who don't do ships much, you know who you are Grumpy Old Man, Victory at Sea has tons of footage of tanks and planes as well as ships.

Roger--- Roger.
I have VS on tape, and DVD.
Still love the music too.
Now if they would release "The Silent Service" on DVD or even tape, I could think of a few people that would not only be happy, but actually buy it.

:-) :-)

Dave's probably too senile for that. :-) I remember it though. There were a lot of military themed series in the late 50s early 60s. Anybody remember Hennesy?

Sorry Navy Log doesn't ring a bell, maybe it was on at the time of my awakening hormones, or conflicted with something my father wanted to watch, (back in those days we only had one TV in a house, not one in every room including the bathroom.) :-)

Hennesy... I remember the show, and drank it by the gallon. And I didn't need some silly sniffer to get the effect. Hennesy in a paper cup was acceptable. :-) :-)

Wasn't Navy Log the show where each episode was a reinactment of an event?
I remember an episode where they were rescuing trapped sailors at Pearl Harbor. Using a torch to cut through the hull plates while the trapped men hammered out an SOS from within the ship.
