Ahoy Shipmates
Check out the art work on this ol Aifix classic.
When it first came out way back circa 1975 and I saw it in an Airfix catalogue man oh man I just wanted that kit. Still gets me.
It got me thinking.
Does the box artwork sometimes influence your desire to own or build a kit?
Personally I love an inspiring piece of box artwork combined with pictures of the build up model on its side like Dragon do.
Regards
Sean

John Steel and his ship painting in the old Revell days. I bought the kits and hung up the boxtop pictures in my room.

Ahoy Sean,
Yes, indeed I must agree that some of the artwork is very inspiring.
I have always enjoyed some of the vintage and also newer artwork
on the model boxes.
And as Dave mentionned, I too cut out some of the artwork and hang
in a frame, on my hobbyroom wall.
Cheers,
Joe

I have cut the box art off of every kit I've completed since getting back into the hobby. One of these days I've a modeling room and I'll be scanning, editing, and framing these to hang on the walls.
As to if the art has ever influenced me to buy the kit, I'd say probably not recently, but when I was a kid that was the ONLY thing that got me to buy the kit. The cover art did it all for me.
