Using what criteria? I'd be really hard pressed to put the I-400 class on this list, except for it's huge size. #5 the USS Nautilus? Is that the nuclear sub, or the older one?

Here you go Rodger.

I've edited the list to show that it was the nuclear Nautilus.

I got to see part of the late showing of the program. I managed to stay awake through the I-400. (note, that's not because the show was boring but because it was 1:30 am) Like many of these shows I think the ratings are pretty subjective. Personally I wouldn't have rated the I-400s as high as they did, certainly not above the Typhoon class.

I was also a bit disappointed by some of the selections. The fact that neither the Ohio Class nor Los Angeles Class are in the top 10 is hard to justify from my perspective.

I found that odd too. The LA class has held the front line for decades, but the Seawolf makes it? And to go along with Rodger's train of thought, if they were looking at the I-400 for it's ingenuity, then why not the host of Axis midget subs? They included the X-craft, yes they actually did manage to set their explosives on the target, but what about the Japanese midget subs at Pearl? How about the WW2 Type IX? Two words, Operation Drumbeat.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the submarine has played such an important roll since World War 1, that's it hard to narrow it down to the Top 10.
