Hi all,

Here are three photos of my last enteries for DDD2, they show the last 2 of 4 models built depicting S-170 during her service life, the two models shown here illustrate her towards the end of her service career. The lower mounted model shows S-170 (Hai) as a type XXIII but with the modified conning tower while the higher model shows her after the fitting of a new diesel power pack which required the hull to be extended , this is when S-170 and her sister ship S-171 became Class 240 U-Boots.

Thanks to Vic for taking the pictures and I hope you enjoy them.

Pete,
Extremely nice build ! This is a tougher conversion than quite a few imagine. Might I suggest you display a "stock" XXIII next to the 240 to really illustrate all the work...just a suggestion

Definitely a build to be proud of. Congrats !!!! Semper Fi ..................Bruce

That's indeed a very nice conversion, i really like the subtle weathering of the hull

Thanks to Vic for taking the pictures

It was a pleasure Mr Vill, any time.

It was also a pleasure to see these finished knowing the problems you’ve had with your eye.
These boats look excellent, even more so in real life. They just look so real.
You can see the fine work in the photos but as always some of the finest and most intricate detail has been lost by the camera and conditions the photos were taken in such as the tiny little cleats on the back of the tower and on the deck which can just about still be seen.
Great work my friend, looking forward to your next project.

All the best

Vic

Ahoy Pete,

You have done an excellent job with these u-boats. Very nice builds and
great paint jobs.

Cheers,
Joe

PS Some tower info will be coming your way in the next couple of days, I am
desperately awaiting the return of my scanner from repairs.

Cheers,
Joe
