I've been watching evil Bay for this wee beastie. then somebody mentioned they were for Malasia or somewhere.
Were they ever used by the RN?

Yes RN had and used them, but they were mainly export products.
If you catch the Tamiya one (instead of copies) you get a great model, very delicate and accurate - you also get the option for RN and Malasian Navy flags - and british sailors!
