I can say that the 5"25 sure looks a lot better than the old H&R one I have.

THE WORST CASTINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN! THE MAST I RECEIVED X2 BOTH UNUSABLE, MALFORMED. THE 5" DECK GUN WAS COVERED IN HEAVY FLASH AND AIR BUBBLED IN KEY DETAIL AREAS. THE TWIN 20MM ARE NOT MUCH BETTER. AFTER BUYING SEVERAL DECKS AND GIVEN THE IMAGES POSTED I EXPECTED THE DETAILS TO MATCH THE PHOTOS. UNLESS PROPERLY MOLDED YOU WILL END UP WITH JUNK.

Uhm Dave, did it occur to you to maybe contact Nautilus about this? Instead of publicly trashing the company you might want to see if they would replace your set and make things right, just a thought.

Oh and by the way, could you "turn the volume" down please (all caps=yelling).

Mike

I too agree...I myself would be contacting Nautilus...this is direct from their "Terms of Use" policy, available on the company website:

"Nautilusmodels.com offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee for 30 days from the time of customer receipt of the item. Within that time, re-sellable items may be returned for any reason. Re-sellable items shall be in a like-new state, with all parts present and attached to sprues in an original condition box."

Have you contacted them?

I did contact Nautilus several times by e-mail and phone, they sent a second batch not much better than the first. Unusable mast, 5" gun full of air bubbles in key detail areas with broken mount. photo etch is a-ok. All resin returned, informed i will only receive credit on new purchase! The decks are fine but I can't recomend their resin. I bought white ensigns 5" deck gun and 40mm's = a-ok just beware that what is pictured on their site is not what you will get. The problem is with the molds and possibly recasting molds with bad parts, huge mold slipage. I hope everyone agrees that you expect what is pictured and described.

By the way their return policy doesn't entitle a $ refund but a credit for future purchases. Not quite 100% satisfaction I would just like a refund.

And I am not trying to trash Nautilus as I have used several decks. I am trying to share problems with other modelers I have had with Nautilus resin products.

Fair enough, Mr. White...IMO, "100% satisfaction guaranteed" should facilitate a complete refund, especially in the case of bad castings...it would be interesting to get their (Nautilus) input here as well...

Mr White ordered several items just before the IPMS Nationals. I had already packed up the items and shipped them to Va Beach. When he got the items about 10 days ago now, he emailed and complained. We sent new parts that day (our standard policy) without asking any details and kept photos of the replacement parts (once again SOP.)

After he got the replacement parts, he first posted here to complain (1330BST, 22AUG or 1030PDT, 22AUG) and then emailed me to complain again (1530EDT 22AUG ). In the meantime, he had called to place an order for more items between his first email and the arrival of the replacements.

I then informed him that it was obvious that my product would be unable to satisfy his demands and informed him of our return policy. I also informed him that I would cancel his order and have since destroyed his credit card information.
Terms of Use
My terms of use are quite standard and were modified from ones on other hobby sites.

Upon getting that email, Mr White returned my email and said:
I THINK THE LARGE BATFISH CASTING SHOULD BE OK AS IT'S EASIER TO CAST LARGE THAN SMALL PIECES. I STILL NEED YOU TO PROCESS THE BATFISH SET, FLOODHOLE SET FOR BALAO CLASS ( 805 ? ) AND THE TEMPLATE SET. AGAIN IF YOU CAN FIND A GOOD CASTING OF THE MAST I NEED THAT PIECE AS WELL I DON'T NEED PERFECTION HOWEVER THE AMOUNT OF FILLING AND SANDING TAKES TOO MUCH MATERIAL AWAY FROM THE SHAPE AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO SAVE THE RUNG HOLES ON THE EXAMPLES PROVIDED.

Here is the second batch of items:

I am awaiting the indicated returned items to arrive. In the meantime this is on hold while our quasi-governmental employees do their jobs.

I find it highly ironic and quite laughable that somebody would post about how bad my product is online, and then still want to buy more!!!

If the entire problem revolves around my casting techniques (The problem is with the molds and possibly recasting molds with bad parts, huge mold slipage. ) why would you possibly want any more of my obviously substandard casting?? You said that "IT WOULD BE EASIER TO FABRICATE MY OWN PARTS THAN TRY TO FIX THESE." Your emails and your posts do not agree with each other.

At this point, if the parts are returned in their original conditions (I have photos of half of them), I would be inclined to simply refund his money and refuse any further orders from a customer it is apparent I am unable to provide the level of service and product he expects. One cannot please everybody over the course of doing business.

BTW, David - Quit YELLING. You didn't talk loudly on the phone, why yell in all of your emails and posts? Is the Caps Lock button on your keyboard broken?

Hi David White and "Nautilus Models" and welcome both to MSW

First things first, so I would like to see a normal discussion here...
I know that David appears to have reason for complaint - but not the customer service of Nautilus Models, for sure. As you know casting and recasting will provoke the master mold to degrade, and from what I can see they are pushing hard to keep the customer pleased.

Discussion should be driven in a moderate way and as ALL OF WE KNOW, we don't catch flies with vinegar

Second: as net ethics, David, please don't use ALL CAPS

Third (but not last or least): Although I have bought items from Nautilus Models several times, I am not affiliated or have any commercial interest in this (or other btw) company.

Aye, now that both sides of the story have been presented...as stated, you can please some of the people some of the time, BUT...

I have had good luck also with Nautilus products, and had a hard time accepting just one side of the story (thank you, Nautilus, for coming aboard...welcome, indeed!), and maybe in this case, it may be best to go against the normal SOP and do as you have stated, moving ahead positively...
