Monterey
On the 1st of May the Fleet arrived at Monterey.
This is a picture of the sailors arriving for liberty in Monterey Bay

The visit to Monterey included a variety of social engagements with a balance of sports and activities for the crewmembers of the ships.
The official program, below, describes a visit from the Governor, a social ball and Duarte Hall, boat races and baseball games.

As First Squadron left of Santa Cruz, Mayor Jack took two-hundred officers on the seventeen mile drive towards Carmel. In the evening the Hotel Del Monte (now the Naval Postgraduate School) was host to a grand ball. Later that evening the Fleet provided illuminations with their search lights.
The picture card below shows the USS Tennessee, Washington, and California in March 1908, "expect the fleet May 1st".

This picture card shows the Fleet's arrival in Monterey Bay.

Both photographs were taken and developed into postcards that were made available while the Fleet was visiting.
