Ahoy Shipmates
North West Cruise
On the morning of the 18th of May the mighty ships of The Great White Fleet weighed anchor from San Francisco to visit the ports in Washington State. It was to be known as the Northwest Cruise.
The Fleet encountered very stormy weather off the coast of Oregon as it made its way to Puget Sound. The hydrographic bureau on the Farrallone Islands had sent out warnings by wireless to all the vessels, and the heavy winds out of the North made their progress very slow.
