If you are interested into the Pacific War there is one ship standing out so evidently, that it can not be ignored.
The ships name is USS Enterprise (CV-6) and this ships supersedes any other vessel in that time period.

I could give you details about the content but this would simply blow the whole review. For this, I photographed the directory of this gallant book so you get an impression.
From keel laying up until the day the ship was scrapped and beyond everything got covered.
What makes this, at least to me, indispensable, is the fact that not only descriptions are provided text wise but also through loads of contemporary photographs.
Most of them being insufficient size and clear to read. Some, due to the matter and time frame, somewhat obscured and with grain.
I included one of the photos printed on two sheets for you to see what gems are hidden within and what quality they have.
This is a book for the historian among us, because it shows in word and picture what this ship went through. At the same time this is one of a kind resource if you are a modeler and are seeking for photo evidence at a specific time frame.
Beside that, the pictures about scrapping the Enterprise sure reveal valuable information regarding the construction and appearance of the ship. Especially some pictures from inside the hull and hangar deck area will be of great help to anyone trying to resemble the ship correctly.
However, there are no real plans included. Some unscaled drawings about the inner hull sections and some rough drawing for an areal view are all one receives.
Result and Conclusion…
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested into the Pacific War in general and into the details and story of the USS Enterprise (CV-6). It sure is worth your time.
Modelers throughout will receive nicely reproduced pictures of any timeframe of the ships history along with a superb writing.
Do not expect as much technical details as in Norman Friedman, U.S. Aircraft Carriers: An Illustrated Design History, ISBN 978-0870217395 but yet enough to comprehend how stuff worked on the ship.
