Kagero has released a new title in their Super Drawings in 3D covering the Light Cruiser Yahagi. This offering is edited by Mariusz Motyka and goes into the Yahagi Cruiser in great detail.
Review
This title from Kagero is written in English only and consists of 91 pages. Only 4 of those pages are dedicated to text and so this title is for the modeller who wants to know about the detail and is not overly interested or concerned about its history or background. With that said the ships reason for being and role is covered very briefly in the first 2 pages, its history in service and action that it saw. The text finishes with a list of data on the vessel.
The vast majority of the rest of the book is then solidly reference drawings showing the ship and various portions of it to a very high degree. If you have a model of this vessel and in the belief that you are not attempting to add an interior, then this title has all of the reference you should ever need. Each of the images is accompanied by good captions which clearly explain the images and what you are looking at. These images will allow the modeller to build a model of exceptional detail with only the limitations of the modeller to hold them back.
Included within this title there are 20 pages of 3D drawings of various ship details, and a set of 3D glasses to view them with. I have to say that I see this as a gimmick and cannot see what it brings to the book in terms of reference or usefulness, but perhaps your mileage may differ.
Also included with the book are a set of fold out scale plans in 1/350th scale, and with 1/350th being perhaps the most popular scale for model ships these should prove to be very useful if checking moulded parts for accuracy scale wise.
Conclusion
If you have a Yahagi to build or are thinking of getting one, you will be hard pressed to find better reference than what is covered in this title, even more so if it is 1/350th scale. I do think of the 3D aspect of the book as a gimmick, but I am willing to reconsider if someone can suggest a benefit to it. Otherwise I am very positive about all other aspects of the book.

Highs: The drawings in this title from Kagero are very good and with the addition of the scale plans a great reference source.Lows: I am not sold on the benefits of the 3D drawings.Verdict: Well worth picking up if you are a modeller were accuracy is king.
