From the same publishers that bring us the “Luftwaffe in Focus” series, a new publication, “U-boot Im Focus”, centers around the German submarine, promising to bring high quality, rare photos, U-boot emblems, camouflage, and commandants, along with a dedicated, highly informative text describing each respectively. Printed in both German and English formats, the publication will appeal to both historians and modelers as well.
The majority of the photos are previously unpublished, covering all aspects of German U-boot forces, printed in a large format style. Illustrations are also used to show special details. The company plans to publish two to three volumes per year, and each edition can be either ordered separately, or a complete subscription can be purchased.

As you move through the publication, the first thing that you will notice are the photographs, and the unique quality of each. . .from dry-dock photos to mid-ocean shots, the subject matter is nothing less than fascinating, and the supporting text accompanying each of these photos leaves the reader with little question as to what he is looking at. These chapters will be a major boon to all modelers who are looking for the unique and obscure subject, and students and historians alike will also benefit from these writings.
The publication is printed on heavyweight, glossy index paper, in a large format (8.5 x 12”), which lays flat nicely when opened, as for reference while modeling a certain subject by photo. All text is printed in clear, easy to understand format, in dual language style (German/English). The chapters flow nicely from one subject to the next, and I for one will say that there is much to be learned from this writing!
In addition to the photography and informative text, there are many high quality color illustrations, covering emblems and markings, conning tower detail of various subjects, camouflage patterns, and there’s even a three page full color centerfold highlighting U-652, “The boat with the unusual spotted camouflage”, in itself packed with detailed photos and information of this very unique vessel variant.
