Intro...

The Hobby Boss 1:700 U-Boat VII B that I reviewed here is a great kit to begin with this set will take the detail even further, plus it comes with enough to do two of them.

The Set...

The main PE fret has the decks, railing, mine cutters and lots of other details. This fret also has the 2cm FlaK 30 AA gun. Even though it will be a challenge to build it will look great when built properly. The hatches are separate from the main deck. I can visualize an enterprising modeler drilling a hole under the PE deck and gluing the hatch in an open position for a little interest. Fine propellers and rudders are included and will look better than the ones with the kit.

The second fret contains conning tower grab irons and additional details for the C35 88mm deck gun. Again, these are fine details that will need carefully handling.

The Instructions...

The instructions are well diagrammed and are color coded so you can see what PE needs cut and what needs bent.

SUMMARY
Highs: High Detail; Gun PE included; Enough for Two Subs; Good Instructions; Low Priced
Lows: Some Tiny Parts
Verdict: This set will make the Hobby Boss U-Boat VIIB even better and it comes with enough to do two subs.

About Anthony Kochevar (ajkochev)
FROM: UTAH, UNITED STATES

I've modeled ships as a teen and started the hobby again in 2005. For some reason I got into the history of the Japanese Navy at this time and started building ships of this navy. I also do N Scale model railroading, reef aquariums and a few video games.
