With the vast array of photo etch available to the naval modeler for stuff "above the deck", it's easy to forget the very visible items "below the deck"... portholes!
Flyhawk soars in to save the day from under-detailed hulls with this set of PE portholes. As always, ultra-sharp rendering is Flyhawk's standard with these little beauties. Four different types of ports are covered, including two with covers. The standard types have eyebrows, while the covered types have the port, ring, and cover. Incredible at this scale. They're also so tiny, that these could easily be used for ships of any nationality with no noticeable issues.
The only drawback I see is that while there are a ton of the standard type portholes, there are only 28 of the covered type. This means that while there enough standards to do a few large ships, the modeler is very limited in the amount he can build with covered portholes.
SUMMARY
Highs: Incredible detail at this scale. Enough standard portholes to do multiple ships.Lows: Not enough covered portholes to do many shipsVerdict: An excellent upgrade for all IJN ships.
