Prefix…

Alright, if you got the Tamiya 1/350 scale Enterprise kit and probably read my review you are aware, that the kit is very solid in the basics but leaves partially some to be desired. Beside the usual photo etched brass frets and decals for the according air wings one section was left unattended. We are talking about the elevator platforms of the Enterprise. Gold Medal Models helps the modeler in this case with a special offering. Let us have a look at what is provided …

The Packaging…

I received my copy within an envelope. Inside I found a cardboard to strengthen the envelope as well as to secure the photo etched brass fret. Let us have a look at the parts.

The Content…

What you receive looks so simple in appearance but will have great influence if applied to the model. This is one lengthy photo etched brass fret with the 4 elevator platforms. The etching is clear of any under or over etching and comes with sharp edges. The lattice structure is nicely represented and the modeler receives an authentic appearance with the tie downs included.

The Instructions…

Oh yes, when I received my copy I missed that yellowish paper which is so well known for Gold Medal Models instructions. This time, the instructions are etched into the brass fret. They give enough information to manage the task. Naturally no photos of an actual building process are provided nor are there any reference hints. Not to speak about photos of the real ship.

Result and Conclusion…

Well, to me this is an essential kit since it replaces a kit given part which cannot be reworked manually a way this set provides no nicely. No matter you are going to do the Tamiya kit with opened or closed hangar deck, this set will greatly enhance visual wise some of the main parts of the flight deck, that is the elevator platforms.
SUMMARY
Highs: Nicely etched parts with no errors.
Lows: None Noted
Verdict: I recommend this set to anyone who builds the Tamiya 1/350 Enterprise kit.

... being father of two lovely children brought me back what was a hobby of mine in my own childhood. I guess everyone with at least one child in the household can figure what I am talking about. Despite what I have built in my younger years (most of them blew up or sank in a pond) I learned to lov...
