PREAMBLE…

If you opted to do the Enterprise CV-6 out of the Trumpeter USS Hornet 1/350 kit and went through all the obstacles involved with that, there remains one question unanswered:
What about the Air Groups and their marking?

One option is provided by StarFighter Decals in form of VT (Night) 90. Now, let us have a look what is provided...

THE PACKAGING…

I received my order within an envelope containing the instructions and decal sheet in a clear plastic bag.

THE CONTENT…

Upon opening the bag, a short painting instruction and the decal sheet is revealed. The print is top notch with no errors I could figure.

This set covers Air Group 90 (Night) deployed aboard the USS Enterprise during late 1944 thru 1945. Markings provided for about 34 VFN-90 F6F-5Ns Hellcats and 20 VTN-90s TBM-3D Avengers.

The INSTRUCTIONS…

There are no general hints on how to work with decals. Also, there is no hint that the parts need to be cut out closely before applying them.

Other than that, the drawings and short but meaningful text indicates which part goes where. There is no referral to the original subject. No building photos were provided.

Over all, this is just enough to accomplish the task if you know what you do.

RESULT…

If you opt to do a 1944 - 1945 USS Enterprise CV-6 model this set is for you.
Giving the fact, the Enterprise carried about that time camouflage Measure 33, Design 4Ab http://www.shipcamouflage.com/DesignSheets/M33_4Ab_CV-6.jpg makes the combination with the provided Decals one of a kind venture and sure worth the effort.
SUMMARY
Highs: Nicely performed comprehensive Decal sheet. Fits the Enterprise in her Measure 33 4Ab scheme.
Lows: The time frame offered is beyond average model kits (even with conversion kits applied). Instructions.
Verdict: If you talk the Enterprise in the time frame 1944 - 45 this is a must have. Be secure with handling decals.

... being father of two lovely children brought me back what was a hobby of mine in my own childhood. I guess everyone with at least one child in the household can figure what I am talking about. Despite what I have built in my younger years (most of them blew up or sank in a pond) I learned to lov...
