The Set...

This resin and photo-etch set from Admiralty Model Works contains four Royal Navy World War II 45’ Motor Boats. They are appropriate for use on a variety of British ships during the time period.

The boats are beautifully cast with very crisp details and are a huge improvement over the simplistic boats typically provided in plastic kits. The window cutouts are exquisite and even the ribbing down the length of the hull sides is delicately molded. There is a small photo-etch fret with tiny propellers, rudders and hand rails for the fore and aft deck houses. The large resin casting block on the bottom of each boat tapers down to a very fine edge which will make removing it relatively easy.

The craftsmanship of these boats is extraordinary; each is a mini kit unto itself. I highly recommend them as they will greatly enhance the appearance and detail of your 1/700 scale World War II Royal Navy warships.

The directions consist of a black and white drawing located on the back of the package tab with the photo etch parts emphasized in a brass color. You can clearly see where the four railings mount to the deck houses however neither the propellers nor the rudder are shown, you’ll have to figure out exactly where they attach yourself.
SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent castings, crisp details, delicate photo-etch, far superior to the usual plastic kit boats.
Lows: Minimal instructions, no guidance on where exactly to attach the props and rudders.
Verdict: Excellent detail set for your WWII Royal Navy ships, I highly recommended them!
