The Set

This resin and photo-etch set from Admiralty Model Works contains four Royal Navy World War II 45’ Motor Launches. They are appropriate for use on a variety of British ships during the time period.

The boats are beautifully cast with very crisp details and are a huge improvement over the simplistic boats typically provided in plastic kits. The castings feature delicate internal ribbing and plank detail both inside and out. The keel details are there as well along with a thin rudder base. The photo-etch fret adds tiny propellers and rudders as well as an overlay to represent the gunwale and seat slats. There is a large casting block on the bottom of each boat however it tapers down to a very fine edge which should make separating it from the boat relatively easy. I would suggest removing the big casting block piece first to make it easier to then trim it down to the keel edge.

The directions consist of a black and white drawing located on the back of the package tab with the photo etch parts shown in place in a brass color. While the directions are small, you can clearly see where the photo-etch parts are attached.

The craftsmanship is extraordinary and each boat is a mini kit unto itself. I highly recommend them as they will greatly enhance the appearance and detail of your 1/700 scale World War II Royal Navy warships.
