The Set...

This resin and photo-etch set from Admiralty Model Works contains four Royal Navy World War II 45’ Fast Motor Boats. They are appropriate for use on a variety of British ships that were in service during World War II.

The boats are beautifully cast with very crisp details. The molded detail includes boat planking, steps, engine compartment covers and the ribbing along the length of the hull. There is a small photo-etch fret with two propellers, a rudder and two sets of hand rails for the aft deck house of each boat. There is a large casting block at the base which tapers down to a very fine edge where it meets the keel which should make it easy to separate the hull from the block.

The directions consist of a black and white drawing located on the back of the package tab with the photo etch parts shone in place in a brass color. You can clearly see where the hand railings are mounted however neither the propellers nor rudder are shown in the diagram so you’re on your own as to where exactly to mount them.

The craftsmanship of these boats is extraordinary; each boat is a mini kit unto itself. I highly recommend them as they will greatly enhance the appearance and detail of your 1/700 scale World War II Royal Navy warships.
SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent castings, crisp details, photo-etch details
