Intro…

Originally designed as fast scout cruisers or flotilla leaders the Atlanta Class cruisers saw extensive service during World War II. Although they were designed and built with a different purpose than what they were used only two of the ships were lost during the war, USS Atlanta and USS Juneau. Designed with 8 dual 5” mounts these ships could fire an impressive 17,600 lbs of shells per minute. They were also the only cruiser for the US fitted with torpedo tubes. Having been designed to operate with destroyers the original armament of the ships made them excellent platforms for anti-aircraft platforms. This only improved during the war.

The Disc…

This disc holds over 300 images of the Atlanta class cruisers. The pictures are divided into ship specific folders. There are eight folders for eight of the eleven ships in the class. These include high resolution images of the ships. Image size ranges from 6000x6000 down to 570x770.

You will get many of those shots you need to make a serious go at a potential build. Those little tiny details left off by all the model companies that the super serious builder wants to capture. High angle, low angle, in port, at sea, and camouflage images are what you will find.

There is also a folder containing just line drawings for the class. These include rigging diagrams and other sections of the ship. These alone are well worth getting the DVD for. You will hardly ever get this info in kits instructions.

Impressions…

Another winning DVD from Still Motions. As you progress down the road from basic builder to serious builder you will want this in your reference library. Besides it is slim and easy to handle.
