Intro…

You just spent six months building your latest masterpiece. Everything is perfect, the weathering, the base, the rigging, everything. Yet, something is missing. That something is a crew.

How many times have you done this? Well, now there is another option to adding life to your ships, The Micro Group figures.

The Figures…

The Micro Group has taken a new approach to figures. They have done their best to model realistic crew members in a variety of poses. Their figures are resin and are show in relaxed poses of the crew going about a typical days work. This was done to bring life to your ship in a natural realistic way.

There are currently figures from two different navies featured, IJN and USN. These actually differ in other than uniforms. Since the average height of an American differs from that of Japanese this is reflected in the figures as well.

The USN figures are roughly 5mm tall, whereas the IJN are 4.5mm tall. The two navies also wore different looking uniforms and this is also evident on the two different figures.

While the unpainted crews are nicely detailed you cannot fully appreciate them until they are painted. This of course will require a steady hand and a very fine brush. The figures are available in groups of seven in either painted or unpainted condition.

Conclusion…

These are really nice figures and will add just that little something your ship is missing. The differences between the IJN and USN figures are nice to see. Some builders will not like paying approx $3.00 per figure, but others will gladly add them to their project.

These are not cookie cutter style figures and they show it. Next time you build a ship get a set or two and make your project look that much better.

Be sure to have your small tweezers and magnifier ready when you want to use these. They come on a small “V” shaped plastic that is sticky on one side. Trust me, these are stuck to the plastic, so use care removing them.
