Hi Al,
the spaced armor would be an easy add-on. Have to think about this

The wood planks were mounted either directly to the sides of the tank, or spaced out a couple of inches, with a layer of cement between them and the sides of the tank for additional protection. Don't know if they were landed that way or if it was a field modification made after the landings. Al

Yep. of course there's a camo scheme lined up. It's been a funny day though in regards to the Typhoon build. How is the Britmodeler site? At the moment I am considering a relocation plus complete pull of all blogs on line here.

Ahoy Julian

Nice progress - great to follow along.

A "New Zealand Sauvignon blanc" now you are talking!

What type did you try? Hope you liked it?

Is everything ok?

Hate to see you pull your blogs and involvement etc. from modelshipwrights.

Cheers

Hi Julian,

Just got back from a trip and noticed you have gotten a head start on the rest of us....great!

Have not seen this kit in my area yet but following with great interest
as I plan to get one too....I like the scale.

As far as the choice of vehicles, look into NEW MILLENNIUM TOYS,
they sell 1:144 scale WWII USA vehicles that may add variety to
the deck cargo.

There is also another but cannot recall the name....a quick Google
or Ebay search in 1:144 will bring them up.

Great work....keep the photos coming.

Cheers,
Joe

Just knew it wouldn't be boring

Don't hear you laughing, I hope you manage to resolve whatever is bugging you.

As to Britmodeller any forum would welcome a modeller with your talents

Julian,

I've got no clue what's going on, but I do know for sure that I would miss you, should you decide to stop posting here...

Your latest project is great and I am following with high interest - real life keeps me quite busy, so not many comments and updates from me these days - does not mean that I'm not watching...
Looking forward to your updates!!

Cheers,
Jan

I second that Jan!
real life means that I don't get a lot of bench time these days, so it's great to be able to watch others progress-you will be missed Julian should you leave us

Same here. Your ship builds in particular are very inspirational, helping me improve. Wish I had the "push" to keep on with a build the way you do after I start. I took a 1st place in ships at the Kalamazoo Kontest in September, the first contest I've ever entered and I truly feel much of the credit goes to you for inspiring me to do better. Thank you for that.

Hey Julian hope you get things sorted out you would be a big Miss around here if you decide to pull the plug.
But remember we will be following even if you do move sites as Kev says any forum would benefit from your your talents to show us mere mortals how it is done
Have a cooled few of these and relax mate .

October 26th update:
Might as well finish the LSM build off on-line. The green has been applied to check out the railings. I dumped the Revell scepters and Granny's sewing thread in favor of some surplus PE I still had, (and before the IPMS/Rivet counters start a new Jihad against me: yes, I had noticed that the railings are 3 bar instead of 2 bar). The bow construction still needs some rails added so that's why it isn't painted yet.

P.s.: Hi Kenny, enjoying working out which type of Gator Grip Glue to use for what. The light version seems to go "Tacky" faster than the regular, great stuff.

Nice rigging. Is that E-Z line? Did you drill holes for the line terminations? Well done.

No, Uschi von Drosten's "Rig that thing thread", (same idea as EZ-line though). This is Uschi's 0.005 line, no end holes rigged, dip in superglue, aim at somewhere on the mast and use your 3rd hand to give a quick dab of accelerator to fix it. Bad language while trying this means you don't pass go and don't get 200 bucks.

Hi Julian,

You are doing a FANTASTIC job on that LSM!... can't wait to see it
finished.

As I mentioned in a previous post, there is a good variety of 1:144
US vehicles available, should you want add to the ones already supplied.

PS
Don't let whatever happened with the rivet counters get to you or
take away from your enjoyment of the hobby.

Just a bunch of self proclaimed gods and a few disciples.

Looks really good Julian,

Coming together nicely, very tidy rigging and railings, the 3 bar may be incorrect, but look fine.

Don't let the rivet counters get you down.

Hi Julian,

Really pleased to see you posting again. Let the rivet counters crawl back under their stones!

If you enjoy your modelling half as much as we enjoy your posts . . . . .

Really enjoying watching and learning from your latest creation

Cheers Kev

I second the above comments Julian-life's too short for rivet counting... after all, we're here to relax and have fun, not get stressed out over being 100% perfect...
