Started up where I left off I been working on some small details and then started on the rigging. I am about 80% completed on the rigging and I am quite shocked that it has gone as smoothly as it has. So I thought I would post a few progress photos. I hope these photos are not hard to view. It is getting late and I wanted to post tonight so I didn't use a backdrop.

Ok, its more than a few photos but I couldn't help myself. Will post again when the rigging is finished and I will use a backdrop.

Well I am calling this one done. I can't think of anything more to add to it.

I didn't weathered the ship only did a wash to help highlight features.

I thought this kit was expensive but I decided purchase it seeing that just about every Japanese capital ship model being offered is two to three times more money than American or British ships from these kit makers. When I opened the box and was floored by the amount of sprues that was inside I thought well I got my moneys worth. That is not the case, I didn't even use half of those sprues to build this ship. There are twelve sprues that weren't used or hardly used to build this model.

I am well stocked now spare parts for WWII Japanese warships...LOL.

Looking forward to upcoming group builds and I am still working away at the "Shell Welder". I have the primer on the hull and ready to get her knocked out.

Later,

Mark

Congratulations for commissioning your Kirishima, it is a real beauty. I like Japanese ships a lot as they look really sleek and elegant. Mission accomplished

Mark, Totally awesome build!

Congratulations on commissioning a fine piece of work

Time to crack open the and celebrate

Thanks for sharing your wonderful build!

PS. I don't weather my ships either, nor do I add crew... I find it looks odd if they're on a nice base with pedestals...

Of course if they're in a sea base then that's a different story

PPS looking forward to seeing what you've got planned next !

Russell,

Thank you for the feedback. This build was a challenge to finish. I had to over come the mental block on tackling the rigging. Glad I install metal railings dedicated for attaching the rigging. It made installation much easier.

Right now I just started building ICM SMS Kronprinz on a group build over at FSM. Looking forward to starting on the destroyer group build starting in October here on M.S.

Ned,

Thank you. I shocked myself on how well the rigging came out and I didn't knock any parts off doing it. That was a first for me...LOL.
