Martin J. Quinn shares one of his latest builds with us, the "HMS Invincible", in 1/350 scale resin.

Details

Model Kit-"HMS Invincible", by Iron Shipwrights

With the following additions/alterations;
-Steve Nuttal barrels for the main battery guns
- Aft boat platform scratchbuilt. All resin and photo-etch parts for this area discarded and new structure made from plastic beams.
- Forward superstructure and bridge reworked. I replaced all the photo-etch pillars with plastic rod and added some plating to more accurately depict the actual layout of this structure.
- Connectors for torpedo net booms added to hull.

The model represents the Invincible in the fall of 1914, after she emerged from a long refit, just before she was dispatched to the Falkands in pursuit of Von Spee's Squadron.

Great work Martin. Can I ask what colour ref you have/used as I have the Kombrig 1/700 scale kit and have had a problem finding the exact scheme for the Falklands battle. I also need a bit more practice with the pe before I tackle this sort of project. Ciao Luciano

The usual excellence Martin. What is sad though is that on a resin kit which should be the cat's meow as they are so costly, that you had so much scratch building to do. And looking at the fellas on the other site already tearing apart Trumpy's Massachussets at 1/4 the cost.

Thanks guys - appreciate the kind words!! Luciano, I used White Ensign's RN Light Grey, 507C. The turret tops are Dark Grey 507A and the forward superstructure decks are corticene, which is a linoleum. Steve, While the resin kits are pricy, most of them will never see the light of day as an injection molded kit, so I don't mind forking out the cash (my wife, on the other hand...) But yeah, it was annoying to have to fix so many issues, but I like a challenge!! It was fun doing the research on her as well - that's a part of the build that I really enjoy.
