HRMS Kortenaer

  • kortenaer_11
Mike McCabe shares a very interesting build with us, this time its the Dutch Destroyer, "HRMS Kortenaer".
Set in 1928, this diorama depicts the vessel at the Dutch naval base of Surabaya, along with a native craft, an Indonesian traditional outrigger boat.

Model kit is from H-P Models, in 1/700 resin, with lots of additions.

I'm constantly amazed at the detail these guys put into 1/700 scale. I bought the 1/700 HMS Liverpool, opened the box, groaned and closed it again. Too small! I really will have to give it a try some day.

I missed this thread the first time around, but I saw the pictures in the Gallery and was suitably impressed. Really incredible job for such a small scale. I like the fact it's an unusual subject. The dio just looks right.
