River-boat Scratch Build

Painting & Finishing. . .
I started this stage by mixing appropriate 'general' rust color which was Humbrol no.160 wit a few or more drops of red H 153 enamel. This was sprayed via airbrush, but as my compressor gave life in the process had to finish the roof with a paintbrush (which didn't turn out that bad in the end).
Then I had painted rusty lines and outlines around the crevices and raised details, some spots and puddles on all parts of the boat. For this I had used Citadel Colour acrylic paint called bestial brown. Next step was to draw bare metal grid using thick and soft pencil lead on the hull according to the original pics. After that I filled some of the grid fields with lighter rust color using sponge to dab the paint on the surface in irregular pattern (the color was a mix of the H160 and H83 enamels). Also I smeared some gunmetal acrylic color onto the hull and brushed few panels of the superstructure with it to give the overall rusty appearance some contrast. Last call was the heavy 'Bestial Brown' wash/filter to tie together the hull and superstructure tones.
This was my first attempt at scratch building a ship and I must say I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out. I hope that you'll like my report as this is the first feature I have written in English!
